The capital of the island is a city with many facets, or rub shoulders with Eastern bazaars and shopping malls, costumes and saris, old colonial houses and skyscrper. For an overview of the city and its suroundings, it is interesting to climb to the citadel, Fort Adelaide, an ancient fortress, we can see on a hill behind the Champ de Mars. If the center was transformed into a bustling city "Singapore model", just wander through neighborhoods to find the true character of the city.
Points of interest ■ Place d'Armes - This is the main square and the birthplace of Port-Louis, lined with elegant palm trees and three went. It passes in front of some old buildings that have been transformed into modern buildings. By continuing to Place du Quai, it comes near the statue of Mahé de La Bourdonnais oriented by the sea. ■ The Government's Hotel - On the Place d'Armes stands the imposing Hotel of the Government and its center official.
■ The Parliament - Behind the Government's Hotel, in Intendance Street, is found the Parliament where the Legislative Assembly is being held.
■ The Cathedral of St Louis - It is located in Church Street and the tomb of the wife of Mahé de La Bourdon is there.
■ Jummah Mosque - It is situated on the Royal Road, near the intersection with the Jummah Street. Nearby is also the picturesque and most representative Chinatown.
