This part of Mauritius is very different from the remainder of the island. Populated almost excluisvement of " Créoles" (which in Maurice corresponds to the descendents of Africans), and with its vast savannas and mountains, this area recalls without any doubt Africa. Contrast is particularly seizing between the colour of the lagoon. The green of the interior of covered grounds of canes has height of Médine. And that of the primary forest in the spectacular Black River Gorges. The particularly pretty landscapes starting from Tamarin, reach their splendour at Le Morne Brabant. It is one of the least sprinkled areas island and, in spite of the presence of several rivers to height of Tamarin (Rivière du Rempart, Rivière Tamarin et, Rivière du Boucan) and in the south of La Preneuse (Grande Rivière Noire et Petite Rivière Noire), the dryness prevails sometimes. As a whole, the coast preserved a wild and authentic aspect. It is of course on this part of the island that one can admire the most beautiful sunsets, particularly of the beach of Tamarin and the sumptuous site of Le Morne Brabant. |
