The east coast is characterised above all by the variety and the contrast of the landscapes. Its broken profile in the south between Mahebourg and Grande Rivière Sud Est is where it is dominated by the Mountain of the Creoles, the Mountain Bamboos is majestic Montagne of the Lion is levelled completely towards north. The coral reef, very far in south-east from the island, gradually approaches the coast until levelling it with height of Lafayette Station. It is in Bay of Mahebourg and a little above the surface of the lagoon is vastest of the country, strewn that and there with islands and small islands: island with the Brushes, island of the Master key, Vacoas island, island with the Headlight, island aus Insane, Marianne island, small island Flamingos, island with the Stags, Mangénie small islands. If one follows the coastal road starting from Mahebourg in direction of north, one perceives the changes of vegetation quickly, alternation of luxuriant forests (more with interior of the grounds remain of multiple species of the primary forest Mauritian), of fields of cane and arable lands. This area of the island east one of charged with history. In spite of its rather important historical role and the development which she knew at one time, the South-eastern coast preserved the rather wild and calm aspect of a moved back place. Today, the tourist infrastructures concentrate primarily between Trou d'Eau Douce and Point-of-Flacq; it is there that the most beautiful beaches extend from the coast and that developed the balneal zone of the east of Maurice. With-délà Point of Flacq, while going towards north, we approach the most moved back part of this coast where one tastes the charm of the places of end of the world. Here, water at the edge of the littoral is dominated by some dark rocks. |
