There exists in Maurice much of impassioned who will make you discover with enthusiasm their corners preferred. The island offers a large range of sites of diving: reef coral which abounds with life, falling without end decorated with sumptuous gorgonnes, landscapes with the imposing architecture made up of arches, tunnels and mysterious, stray caves sintered which conceal unsuspected “treasures”… The attractive sites are distributed all around the island, almost exclusively behind the coral barrier. The marine parks of Blue Bay and Balaclava which are in the lagont are also interesting. One can divide the island into 3 great zones: south-west (From Le Morne to Flic en Flac) the Bay North-West (of the Tomb to the islands of North and Is (From Baie dudu Tombeau to Mahébourg). The Southern part of the island is very favourable with the diving because of a dangerous sea. Some useful i nformations: To Maurice, the diving is possible all the year but the best season is during the summer, from November to April, where the temperature of water can reach 29°C. In winter, water is refreshed notably and can go down in lower part from 20°C, the sea is agitated often and the visibility is not too good. Although each area of the island has its characteristics and its attractions, force is to note that the divings are of a very variable quality. To benefit from it fully, the diver must rather have a heart of explorer than of spectator: farfouiller in the cavities of the rock to uncover the imitation of an octopus or latanière of a murene, to look between the branches of the coral to see a myriad of small apprehensive fish, to attentively observe anfractuosities of the reef there to detect tiny creatures, to scan great blue to see emerging a bench of carangues or barracudas, to listen to the acute and remote cries dolphins which could appear suddenly… Whatever the sites, certain species are frequently observed such surprising them and discrete pink leaf fishes or, the Javanese mauves, murénes of more than 2 meters, the tempting fish doors signs (Zanclus), the Titan triggerfishes sometimes threatening, the flying laffes or the fish cats gathered in sérrés benches. Fascinated by all these creatures, one would forget of it almost that surface should be regained! |
